Passos, Minas Gerais

Passos is a municipality in the southwest of Minas Gerais, Brazil, situated at 830 m elevation near the São Paulo border and the Furnas reservoir. It became a municipality in 1858 and belongs to the Sul e Sudoeste de Minas mesoregion and the Passos micro‑region. The local economy centers on industry, especially sugar, yeast, dairy, poultry and expanding heavy‑vehicle parts production.
