Summary

Pasvalys is a city in Panevėžys County, northern Lithuania, situated on the Svalia River. It was the site of the 1557 Treaty of Pasvalys, which triggered Ivan IV’s Livonian War, and suffered severe Soviet deportations during and after World II. Today the town is known for its farmhouse beer, a cheese factory, and cultural sites such as the Mill Museum.
