Summary

Pāvilosta is a port town in Latvia's Courland region, situated at the Saka river's mouth. Originally a small fishing port, it grew with the construction of the Liepāja military port nearby. The town was named Paulshafen in 1879 by Otto Friedrich von Lilienfeld, after his brother, a governor.
