Pelileo, officially San Pedro de Pelileo, is a city situated in the Andean highlands of Ecuador's Tungurahua Province. Founded in 1570 by Antonio Clavijo, it was devastated by an earthquake in 1949, leading to the construction of a new city nearby. Today, Pelileo is renowned for its thriving blue jeans industry and local aguardiente production.
