Penza

Penza is a city and the administrative center of Penza Oblast, Russia, situated on the Sura River. Its name originates from a Moksha language hydronym meaning 'end of a swampy river'. The city's initial layout was influenced by a 18th-century fortress and later rebuilt following a plan similar to St. Petersburg.
