Pismo Beach, California

Pismo Beach is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, historically inhabited by the Chumash people for at least 11,000 years. The city's name originates from the Chumash word 'pismu', referring to tar springs used for caulking canoes. Founded in 1891 by John Michael Price, it developed from a Rancho Pismo land grant.
