Summary

Plácido de Castro is a municipality in the eastern part of the Brazilian state of Acre, bordering Bolivia. The town developed significantly with the construction of a road connecting Rio Branco to Quinari and Plácido de Castro in the 1940s and 50s. It was named after José Plácido de Castro, a figure from the Acre War, and established as a municipality in 1963.
