Plavnica is a village located in the Prešov Region of northern Slovakia, within the Stará Ľubovňa District. First mentioned in 1325, it historically belonged to Sáros County of the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918. The village was liberated from German forces by the Red Army in January 1945.
