Polonne is a city in western Ukraine, situated on the Khomora River. Historically part of Volhynia, it was first mentioned in 996 related to Prince Volodymyr the Great. The town suffered a devastating massacre in 1648 during a Cossack raid, resulting in the deaths of thousands.
