Port Said

Port Said is a port city in northeast Egypt, situated along the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal. Established in 1859 during the construction of the Suez Canal, it quickly became a vital trade hub. The city's name combines 'port' in French with 'Said', the name of the Egyptian ruler who granted the canal concession.
