Portales, New Mexico

Portales is a city and the county seat of Roosevelt County in New Mexico, established in 1909. Its origins trace back to the late 19th century as a settlement around a water source used by cattle herders. Eastern New Mexico University, founded in 1934, significantly contributes to the city's identity.
