Reggio Emilia

Reggio Emilia, located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, traces its origins to the Roman Via Aemilia constructed in 187 BC. It served as a significant judicial center during Roman times, initially known as Regium Lepidi. The city experienced damage from barbarian invasions and Magyar raids, leading to the construction of new fortifications in the 9th and 10th centuries.
