Resende is a municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, founded in the 18th century. Originally named Nossa Senhora da Conceição do Campo Alegre da Paraíba Nova, it was renamed Resende in 1801 after General José Luís de Castro. The city is an industrial hub, home to the MAN Latin America factory and the Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras.
