Summary
Rochefort is a port city in Southwestern France, located on the Charente estuary. Established in 1665 by Colbert as a naval base, it housed the Arsenal de Rochefort until 1926. Napoleon Bonaparte surrendered to the British off Rochefort in 1815, marking the end of the Hundred Days.
