Summary

Ørsta is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, situated in the Sunnmøre region of Western Norway. The municipality was established on 1 August 1883 after separating from Volda, and later expanded through mergers in 1964. It is named after the Ørstafjorden, whose name may derive from an Old Norse word meaning “raging”.
