Sarnia is a city in Ontario, Canada, situated on Lake Huron at the junction of the Upper and Lower Great Lakes. Founded by French explorer La Salle in 1679, it became a key port for Great Lakes shipping. The discovery of oil in nearby Oil Springs in 1858 spurred the growth of the petroleum industry.
