Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstein

Schleswig is a town in northeastern Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, serving as the capital of the Schleswig-Flensburg district. Historically, it was a major trading center and a bishop's seat, later becoming the residence of the Dukes of Gottorf. The town's name originates from its location on the Schlei, a Baltic Sea inlet.
