Summary

Seltz is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department of the Grand Est region, located near the Sauer River and the Rhine. Historically, it originated as a Celtic settlement and Roman castrum named Saletio in the 5th century. Saint Adelaide established Selz Abbey in 991, and the town became an Imperial city in 1357.
