Sergiyev Posad is a city and the administrative center of Sergiyevo-Posadsky District in Moscow Oblast, Russia. Founded in 1337 with the establishment of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, it became a significant religious center. The city underwent name changes during the Soviet era, being known as Sergiyev and Zagorsk before reverting to its original name in 1991.
