Sokolov is a town in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the Sokolov Basin near the Ohře River. Originally known as Falknov nad Ohří, the town was historically owned by the Nothaft and Schlick noble families. It features a castle rebuilt in the 16th century and is located near the artificial Lake Michal.
