Summary
Ufa is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia, situated at the confluence of the Belaya and Ufa rivers. Founded in 1574 as a fortress by order of Ivan the Terrible, it has grown into a major industrial hub. The city hosted international summits for BRICS and the SCO in 2015.
