Summary

Uzès is a commune in the Gard department, Occitanie, Southern France. Originally a Gallo-Roman settlement named Ucetia, it supplied water to Nîmes via the Pont du Gard aqueduct. The town experienced periods of Muslim control in the 8th century before becoming a Protestant stronghold during the Wars of Religion.
