Summary

Vernár is a village in the Poprad District, Prešov Region, northern Slovakia, situated between the Low Tatras and Slovak Paradise mountains. First mentioned in 1295, it historically belonged to Gömör and Kishont County within the Kingdom of Hungary. The village saw a shift in governance with the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918 and later experienced Red Army occupation in 1945.
