Vijes is a municipality within the Valle del Cauca Department in Colombia, situated 31 km from Cali. Founded on July 14, 1539, by marshal Jorge Robledo, it originated near the indigenous settlement of Ocache. The town's initial name was "Vije" or "Vija".
