Wakayama (city)

Wakayama is the capital of Wakayama Prefecture, located in the Kansai region of Japan. Historically, the area was the center of ancient Kii Province and home to local rulers before the Yamato State. During the Edo period, it flourished as a castle town under the Kii Tokugawa clan.
