Summary

Walla Walla is a city and county seat located in southeastern Washington, near the Oregon border. Originally inhabited by the Walla Walla, Cayuse, Umatilla, and Nez Perce tribes, it became a key location for fur trading with the Hudson's Bay Company. The Whitman Mission, established in 1836, played a significant role in early settlement but was later the site of a tragic massacre.
