Waregem

Waregem is a municipality and city in the Belgian province of West Flanders, situated in the Lys river valley between Kortrijk and Ghent. Historically, the area was inhabited before Roman times, with evidence of Gallo-Roman activity. The name originates from a Frankish clan, and the territory was granted to St Peter Abbey in Ghent during the 10th century.
