Summary
Wilhelmshaven is a coastal town in Lower Saxony, Germany, situated on the western side of the Jade Bight of the North Sea. Founded in 1869 as a Prussian naval base after the Jade Treaty with Oldenburg, it became the main German military port. The city hosts the Wadden Sea National Park and the historic Kaiserliche Werft shipyard where battleships such as Admiral Graf Spee and Tirpitz were built.
