Willich is a town in the district of Viersen, North Rhine-Westphalia, formed in 1970 through the merger of the older villages of Willich, Anrath, Schiefbahn, and Neersen. Historically part of the Electorate of Cologne, the area later fell under Prussian rule following the Congress of Vienna. During the 20th century, the town hosted British military forces for over four decades.
