Yokosuka is a city located in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, situated on the Miura Peninsula. Historically, the area was inhabited since the Paleolithic period, with evidence of early settlements. William Adams, the first Briton to reach Japan, received a fief in Yokosuka in 1612 for his service to the Tokugawa shogunate.
