Summary

Zvolen is a city in central Slovakia, located at the confluence of the Hron and Slatina rivers. Historically, it served as the capital of Zólyom County until the 1760s and was a key point on the Via Magna trade route. The city received town privileges from King Béla IV in the 1230s, becoming one of the first towns in the Kingdom of Hungary.
