Anglo-Egyptian Sudan was a condominium jointly administered by the United Kingdom and Egypt from 1899 until 1956. The territory encompassed what is now modern Sudan and South Sudan, along with parts of southeastern Libya. It gained independence as the Republic of the Sudan following the end of the condominium agreement.
