The Sultanate of Aussa was a prominent Afar monarchy located in the Afar Triangle across modern-day Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Djibouti. Established by the Mudaito dynasty in 1734, it maintained autonomy through skilled desert warfare against neighboring powers. It was later incorporated into Italian East Africa.
