Belgian colonial empire

The Belgian colonial empire comprised various territories and concessions held by Belgium during the colonial era. Its primary possession was the Belgian Congo, which was transferred from the personal rule of King Leopold II to the Belgian state. The empire also included mandates in Africa and smaller concessions in Asia.
