Checheno-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic

This autonomous republic was a constituent part of the Soviet Union located in the northern Caucasus. It underwent several administrative reorganizations and periods of abolition throughout the twentieth century. The region served as a home for both Chechen and Ingush ethnic groups.
