Commonwealth of the Philippines

The Commonwealth of the Philippines was a transitional administrative entity under United States sovereignty from 1935 to 1946. It was established to prepare the islands for full independence following the Tydings-McDuffie Act. The administration was interrupted by the Japanese occupation during World War II.
