Summary
The Corsican Republic was a short-lived sovereign state established on the island of Corsica in the mid-eighteenth century. It was proclaimed by Pasquale Paoli and featured a constitution based on Enlightenment principles. The state was eventually incorporated into the Kingdom of France.
