Summary
The District of Galicia was a World War II administrative unit of Nazi Germany’s General Government, created on 1 August 1941 after Operation Barbarossa. It covered territory roughly corresponding to the former Polish voivodeships of Lwów, Tarnopol and Stanisławów, now western Ukraine. The district existed until the Soviet counter‑offensive in 1944, after which it was dissolved.
