Summary
The District of Louisiana was a temporary United States administrative region covering the portion of the Louisiana Purchase that had not yet been organized into the Territory of Orleans. It existed from 10 March 1804 until 4 July 1805, when it was reorganized as the Louisiana Territory. The district lay north of present‑day Arkansas and was governed as part of the Indiana Territory.
