Summary
British West Florida was a British colony from 1763 to 1783, formed from former Spanish Florida and parts of French Louisiana. Its capital was Pensacola and it covered the area between the Mississippi and Apalachicola rivers, including much of the modern Florida panhandle. The colony was ceded to Spain after the American Revolutionary War.
