Summary
The Don Republic was an anti‑Bolshevik state that existed from 1918 to 1920 during the Russian Civil War. It occupied the territory of the Don Cossacks, roughly corresponding to today’s Rostov Oblast. The republic was led by Ataman Pyotr Krasnov and sought to restore traditional Cossack autonomy.
