Duchy of Amalfi

The Duchy of Amalfi was a de facto independent state centered on the city of Amalfi during the Middle Ages. It functioned as a major maritime power and commercial hub in the Mediterranean region. The state eventually lost its independence following Norman and Pisan invasions.
