Duchy of Massa and Carrara

The Duchy of Massa and Principality of Carrara was a small Italian state established in 1473. It was ruled by the Malaspina family and later integrated into the sphere of influence of Modena. The territory eventually ceased to exist as an independent entity in the 19th century.
