Free Territory of Trieste

The Free Territory of Trieste was an independent state established after World War II to resolve territorial disputes between Italy and Yugoslavia. It was placed under the responsibility of the United Nations Security Council. The territory was eventually dissolved and partitioned between the two neighboring countries.
