The Kingdom of the Iberians emerged circa 888 AD under the Bagrationi dynasty, succeeding the Principality of Iberia. It was located in Tao-Klarjeti, a historical region in north-eastern Turkey and southwestern Georgia. The kingdom played a crucial role in the unification of Georgian lands in 1008.
