Summary
The Kingdom of Travancore was a prominent Indian princely state that lasted from 1729 until 1949. Ruled by the Travancore royal family, it gained historical significance for defeating the Dutch at the Battle of Colachel. It eventually merged with the Kingdom of Cochin before joining India.
