Summary
The Kingdom of Tungning, also known as Tywan, existed between 1662-1683, ruling parts of Taiwan and the Penghu islands. Founded by Koxinga, it aimed to restore the Ming dynasty against the Qing. Its maritime power controlled key sea lanes from Japan to Southeast Asia.
