Summary
Korea was a Japanese colony from 1910 to 1945, known as Chōsen. Japan's influence grew after forcibly opening Korea in 1876 and defeating China in the 1894-1895 war. The annexation followed the Russo-Japanese War in 1905 and Emperor Gojong's abdication in 1907.
