Summary
The Kruševo Republic was a short-lived revolutionary state proclaimed on 4 August 1903 during the Ilinden uprising in the town of Kruševo, then part of the Ottoman Manastir Vilayet. Led by Nikola Karev, its provisional government comprised equal representation of Macedonian‑Bulgarians, Aromanians and Albanians. The republic collapsed within weeks as Ottoman forces retook the town.
