Summary
Manchukuo was a Japanese puppet state in Manchuria, existing from 1932 to 1945. Initially a republic, it became a constitutional monarchy with Puyi, the last Qing emperor, as its nominal ruler. The state served as a base for Japan's further invasion of China during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
